Today is the 1st anniversary of the passing of infomercial legend and friend, Billy Mays. The following is something I did shortly after that awful day…
He left us way too soon…
It started off as any other Sunday. A cup of coffee, reading news sites and planning the days activities. Who would have thought that one phone call would change my day…and life forever. My brother called me and said that WFLA radio was reporting unconfirmed reports that Billy Mays had died. First I couldn’t believe it. I did not want to think a friend of mine had passed so unexpectedly. I listened to the radio…I checked the internet…I talked to my friends. Then, it was confirmed…Billy had passed away in his sleep. I could not believe he was gone, but my thoughts immediately went to his family and other friends. Prayers were not enough…
The following is a tribute that I put together on my thoughts that day, and the terrible sadness that filled a nation…
I traveled to Pittsburgh on to pay my respects to a man I truly looked up to and admired. Someone that made everyone he met feel important. He was kind and generous, the Billy I knew, and he was sent to God’s arms by friends and family.
God Billy, you will be missed…but never forgotten!
